Make sure your poster is on topic. Don't try to include too many ideas or activities on your poster. A single message, clearly illustrated, is more effective. If you use lettering, make sure it can be read from across a room. And, don't forget to check your spelling!

CONTEST DEADLINE: January 12, 2024
(Work must be submitted to Ms. Moran NO LATER THAN JANUARY 8)
Each year your association hosts a statewide flag contest open to all student artists in Massachusetts. Every visual arts educator in the state is invited to submit no more than ten flags for the contest. “Flags” are essentially posters created on paper and don’t require any special equipment or supplies. The statewide winning composition IS printed on a fabric flag by the MAEA Youth Art Month committee.
There are four categories (k-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) with generous prizes for winning artists AND their teachers in each category. Plus the Grand Prize winning flag is sent to represent Massachusetts at the National NAEA convention! What an honor for a young artist to have their work displayed in a national capacity to represent their state!

CAEA has joined with The Idyllwild Arts Foundation to provide an opportunity for one student (Grades 6-12) from one of the three areas/regions in California to experience this unique summer art program. Current CAEA members may nominate as many students as they wish. The cost of the program includes the art course taken as well as room and board. The Idyllwild Arts Foundation is generously covering the entire cost of the program for the chosen students. Students will need to provide for their own transportation and the $50 registration fee. The CAEA area or region in which the student resides will pay the cost of materials.

MCASD's 25 and Under Art Contest is back!
MCASD's 25 and Under Art Contest is back!
This year marks the 11-year anniversary of Qualcomm Foundation's generous support of free admission for all MCASD visitors age 25 and younger. In celebration of this initiative, MCASD developed the 25 and Under Art Contest as a way to showcase the talent of our young patrons. Now in its seventh year, the 25 and Under Art Contest invites young artists to submit original artwork by April 27 for the chance to have their piece featured at the Museum.
This year's theme is "Untold Stories." Participants are asked to share stories that are important to them, yet might not be visible to others. A panel of judges will select their favorite 25 works from the submissions. Those works will be on view to the public from Thursday, May 24 through Sunday, June 3, when the winners will be announced at a special reception from 3 to 4:30 PM. Notoriety isn't the only thing at stake--this year's grand prize is $500 to Blick Art Materials and a curator-led tour of the exhibition of your choice. |

Our 2016 Youth Art Contest is now open! The theme of this year’s contest is ‘”Discover State Parks” and we invite youth ages 4-18 to participate by creating artwork that shares their experiences in state parks and what they have discovered during their visits.
First, second, and third place winners will be announced for each age category. Winners will receive prize packages from our E-Store, and their artwork will be showcased online, in print, and in venues throughout California. CSPF hopes that our Youth Art Contest will encourage students to seek inspiration in California’s state parks. We encourage parents, teachers and youth leaders to help spread the word about the youth art contest. |
